An Avionics Technician's Guide
The Freelancer DUR Star Citizen 3.5
Today we will start off with our normal preflight walkaround, examining the weapons package and exterior of the ship
an interior walkaround in conjunction with aircrew fighting potions
reviewing the flight deck, analyze flight performance, and wrapping the video with my final thoughts on the ship
Lets begin
The Dur is MISC’s call to the medium sized exploration ship, more cargo, range and up scaled crew capacity compared to a starter exploration ship.
This ship is gives a player the tools necessary to jump across the solar system, and self sustain in the void of space without external assistance
Let's get a closer look and discuss the ship as we start our preflight walk around
Starting off our walkaround we have the sensors array on the nose on the ship, a antenna on the bottom, and to dome like sensors on the front of the ship
Just under the nose we also have the nose landing gear, it has reinforced struts and a nice wide flat pad, the wide surface area allows the gear to take on the heaver cargo loads that the crew may need for the journey.
To the mid section we have on either side a gimbaled remote turret that is dedicated to the pilot. Each turret holds 2 size 3 attritions for a total of 4 guns.
Next we have the main landing gear, that is long and skinny, the gear retracts into the ship helping reduce drag in atmospheric conditions
Each wing has two external fuel tanks, giving the DUR extended range over is siblings.
And under the wing the DUR comes with missiles to assist with hostiles you may encounter on your journey into the unknown
To the back we have our engines that are in cased to offer some form of protection
Now With our walkaround complete let's take a look at the inside of the ship
Internal inspection
Once you walk in you are confronted with your first aircrew fighting position
A turret that has two dominance size 3 laser scatterguns
Your field of view and firing angles can help if a threat gets in close.
The turrets view is satisfactory, and as of 3.5 you can change the sensitivity of your turret with a new user interface
Back into the main bay we have access panels to either side for the ship components, fuel pipes and ducts just above us and on the floor are red marking indicating where the cargo grid is, and a floor hazard for turret deployment, this should be black and yellow, but I won't tell Osha.
The next room is where the magic happens, the advanced jump drive, hence the reduced space for cargo
The 3rd room in is the docking collar and where the rest f the cargo goes if filled up to the top.
The 4th room in includes a bathroom, a small mess, a quick access ladder that I refuse to use
And a computer screen that shows ship components at the minute
Just forward of that we have the 4 beds for the crew of the ship.
The DUR crews up tp 4 plus1 if you include a turret gunner
Finally at the flight deck to my left we have a crew man station followed on byone to my right side as well
To the front we have the first officer on the right and the pilot on the left side both confronted with pointless switches and buttons to add some detail to the ship.
Once in the pilot seat you have a MFD at your bottom left
Just above you have the options to cycle engines and your spool jump drive, the next switch over is your cycle power and go flight ready switch
Next to that you have another MFD, then your radar and navigation hologram
Another MFD to the right
Then you have a switch that allows you to lock, unlock, open and close the exterior
And finally the last MFD to your bottom right
MFDS ARE
MULTIFUNCTIONAL FLIGHT DISPLAYS
Now With our flightdeck analysis complete
Let’s take her for a spin
I'll See you in the air
The ship feels smooth until you try to turn
this was filmed in the 3.5 PTU, and since you have no vertical stabilizer you will wobble a little if you try to turn the ship to hard. Just being graceful with your movements and the ship won't throw a fit.
TACTICS
***Now Let's discuss some tactics***,
Now with the analysis we went through
I believe this is a great ship. Even with limited cargo you still have increased range and the ability to carry a smaller vehicle like a greycat, or a hoverbike.
Even though The ship is armed it's meant to fend off an attack and get away, not take enemies head on.
So Defend yourself, warp away and lick your wounds.
But as usual it's your tactics and your decisions over all so use the ship as you please
Again if you are an explorer This would be the next step up from a smaller ship, and latter on you can upgrade to the connie aquila, or corsair and then make your way to the Mother of all exploration ships.....
