In this video, we modify a downloaded SketchFab game map for use in a Three.js Virtual Experience Engine. The map consists of several key components. First is the original mesh downloaded from SketchFab, we join all the mesh to make just one draw call. Next, we create a duplicate of this mesh and modify it to serve as the collision mesh, which is named "phy-body-dynamic-trimesh-0kg-collider".
All geometry that has no possibility of colliding with the avatar is removed, such as elevated structures or rooftop elements that are unreachable by the avatar or vehicles. This optimization improves performance and ensures accurate collision detection.
We also add a plane axis named "avatar-here" that defines the avatar’s initial position when the GLB map is loaded. In the video, the final scene is exported as a compressed GLB file.
