I forgot to mention something in the video that has a lot of bidders confused. If I enter the maximum amount I am willing to pay, it doesn't mean that if I place that bid amount at the last second I will have to pay that maximum bid amount.
What it means is if someone else placed a bid just below my maximum bid, I will definitely pay they highest I was willing to pay.
However, When you place a bid on eBay, eBay's bidding engine places only enough of your bid to outbid the previous bidder and if it is much lower than the highest bid you were willing to pay, you will win it for much less than your maximum bid and you will not have to pay the highest bid amount that you entered.
Snipers do not always win and if someone placed an early proxy bid and their maximum was higher than your maximum bid, they will beat you and win. However, sniping stops you from getting into bidding wars with other bidders which usually drives up the price.
There are websites that offer sniping services that will snipe for you if you are not going to be able to bid yourself at the last minute. However, you have to pay for this service. Most of these website charge a small amount per auction and for example some websites charge 25 cents per bid or a percentage of your winning bid. If you bid on a lot of items, that can add up fast and this is why I do all my snipes manually.
