Mass yesterday was great. The second reading struck me most which underpins one of the most difficult teachings of the Catholic Church, that our suffering, joined with Christ’s, does have immense value

Reading 2
Colossians 1:24-28
Brothers and sisters:
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake,
and in my flesh I am filling up
what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ
on behalf of his body, which is the church,
of which I am a minister
in accordance with God's stewardship given to me
to bring to completion for you the word of God,
the mystery hidden from ages and from generations past.

This is not to say that Christ’s suffering is lacking in any way. It only means that when we join our suffering to Christ’s passion, God invites us to participate in the salvific action of Jesus through our own suffering. Jesus forever transformed the meaning of suffering through His passion. No longer is suffering meaningless pain, but it can be offered up and joined to the work of Christ to intercede for our own good & the good of others. I have to reflect deeply and ask the Holy Spirit for further guidance on this because this is a GAME CHANGER! From this moment on, I offer every pain, annoyance, frustration, inconvenience, suffering to Christ to use for His Purpose and Glory.
