I feel like they don't even try or make an effort to become more self sufficient in ways they could. I simply can't financially support two people, as well as cook and clean. I want to end the relationship but don't know how. My parents didn't accept my partner due to his criminal past. I let them know I wasn't, going to leave him, perhaps not as strongly as I should have. But seeing the tension, he left to salvage my relationships with them. I didn't make him stay. I'm heartbroken and have anger and resentment toward my parents. I've been working on handling the grief, not shutting down during difficult conversations/situations, asserting I'm an adult in control of my life and not seeking approval, and establishing boundaries with my mother. How do I get past that? Could there be a reconciliation with my ex?
