A common native plant in the Pacific North West, bare-stem / naked-stem biscuit root, Lomatium nudicaule, has a very large umbel inflorescence that adds an interesting accent to a meadow, prairie, forest edge, etc. creating a natural habitat for pollinators and more.
As its name tells... the roots are edible, as well as the leaves and 'seeds'.
The seeds, actually fruits with a seed inside, were used as tea by pre-columbian populations to soothe singers' throats, as well as burned as incense at funeral ceremonies.
