Tiverton High School dressed up to the nines for their ‘Hollywood’ Prom Night on Friday June 30 with glitzy dresses, ball gowns, suits and tuxedos gracing the red carpet for the glamorous event.

The annual Prom Night is a chance for Year 11 students to celebrate the end of high school with their friends and teachers, and is often labelled as a ‘right of passage’ for the students.

This year’s Tiverton High School Prom was held at the Tiverton Hotel, and students arrived in style with a line up of flashy sports cars, tractors and limos. Inside the students were treated to arrival drinks and a VIP photo booth to create some take-home souvenirs.

The pinnacle of the night was the voting of Prom King Nathaniel Britton and Queen Ruby Richards, who have the first formal dance and officially start the evening.

Sammy Crook, Tiverton High School head teacher, said: “The Year 11 Prom is an event that the school looks forward to each year, and we really enjoy seeing the students dressed up in their outfits and enjoying themselves.

“They have all worked extremely hard these past few weeks during the exam period and it’s great to see them having some fun now they have finished.

“ It is such a great community event, with proud parents/carers, grandparents, brothers and sisters watching them walk the red carpet.

“Members of staff work incredibly hard with the student ambassadors every year to put on a fun-filled evening and this year has been no exception.

“Our assistant head teacher Mr Fitchett has even been playing paparazzo for the evening!

“Special thanks go to Mr Cordon and Mrs Pengelly for organising the evening and the Rotary Club for their assistance.”
