Recap – February 28, 2026
Cow Pasture Apiary
Today’s work:
• Removed all empty Norroa jars and feeders
• Installed a temporary solar-powered electric fence
• Evaluated overall colony survival
I’m pleased with how many hives made it through winter so far — but we’re not done yet. Another cold snap is coming.
One danger this time of year:
Warm days trigger foraging.
Bees fly out.
Resources are limited.
They return and burn through stored reserves faster.
Then the cold hits.
That cycle can be dangerous.
That’s one reason I chose Norroa at this timing — it provides mite control and supplemental sugar resources in one step.
It’s not just treatment.
It’s support before a weather shift.
I also spent time observing colonies and assessing future fence reinforcement options using railroad ties and cinderblocks along the perimeter.
Infrastructure.
Resources.
Timing.
Winter isn’t over yet.
“It’s honey with a J, and a Jeff with one F between two E’s.
That’s honey boss.
And this is my office.”
