he Election Commission of India has responded to allegations over its functioning and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, saying that written notes, observations, technical suggestions and internal checks are part of normal decision-making in a multi-member constitutional body. The ECI said differing views among Commissioners are a routine part of deliberations before final decisions are taken, and argued that focusing on selected internal notes over a 10-month period does not present the complete picture. The Commission said the full body has taken unanimous decisions on electoral roll revisions, SIR exercises and other electoral reforms, while also asserting that voter data systems operate under security and audit controls.
