An old Russian tune originally for violin and balalaika (here guitar) as written by Boris Fomin c 1920, with words set to two decades later, translated two decades later into English, made a Pop song by Paul McCartney with Mary Hopkin singing the tune in 1967 as "Those were the Days, my Friend".
