Isometric Neck Lateral Flexion is a simple but effective exercise we use at Good Vibes Physio to strengthen the muscles on the side of the neck, improve neck stability, and reduce irritation from daily loads like desk work, driving, and training.
Isometric holds let you build neck strength without movement, making this a great option when the neck is sensitive or easily aggravated.
We use this exercise in physio and rehab programs to help people:
✅ Strengthen the side neck muscles safely
✅ Improve neck stability and control
✅ Reduce neck pain and overload
✅ Build tolerance for daily and sporting activities
How to do it:
Sit or stand tall and place your hand or a band against the side of your head.
Gently push your head into the resistance without letting it move.
Hold the position for the prescribed time, then relax and repeat.
Strong hold. No movement. Keep breathing.
