From her design in 1938 to her retirement in 1991, the Iowa-class battleship (BB 62) earned recognition from WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and conflicts in the Middle East.

Expect to spend at least a few hours here, as the USS New Jersey is also one of the most interactive U.S. battleship museums, with specialty tours and experiences including the ‘fire a 5-inch gun’ experience and opportunities for scouts, youth organizations, and families to spend the night aboard the battleship!

Many year-round events occur on the battleship, including the “fire the saluting gun” event. (More events are located on their website) Visitors may also rent out parts of the ship for their own private events.

Before you leave, make sure to grab a souvenir at the “Battleshop” and a quick snack and drink at the Black Dragon Cafe after your visit! 😋

The battleship is open every day (except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day) from 10am-5:30pm, with last boarding at 4:00pm. Visitors may choose from self-guided and a variety of guided and private tours.
