Dr Jane McLarty from the Faculty of Divinity at the University of Cambridge talks about the stories of two early Christian women, who go against the expectations of their gender because of a strong commitment to their faith: one rejects marriage to her fiancé in favour of following the apostle Paul while the other resists the pleas of her father to deny that she is a Christian - even though this will leave her dead and her baby motherless.
This lecture was filmed as part of the 2019 Festival of Ideas in Cambridge, as has been made available as part of the Faculty of Divinity 2020 Online Open Day.
