Planting Fall Garlic (NEW Varieties!) & Covering the Garden for Winter | Garden 2023

Описание: It's November and we're cleaning up the remains of the garden and putting it to rest for the winter. After letting our chickens free-range in the gardens for a month or so - eating the remaining foliage and bugs and tilling and fertilizing the soil with their little claws - it's time to cover everything up. We use large, opaque tarps to block out light and provide warm for the ground beneath, which helps with weed control, earthworm activity, and decomposition.

Additionally, we're planting our FALL GARLIC and due to availability, we're trying some NEW hardneck varieties. HARDNECK GARLIC is the the garlic of choice up north because of our shorter growing season. Planting garlic in the fall and overwintering it creates my healthier and larger bulbs (and also prevents bolting when things heat up).
