What Happens When You Get Handed an Estimated License Position (ELP)

In this episode Mike covers what happens when you receive the Auditors Findings during a Software Audit. Well, what does happen? First, you will be given an ELP by a Software Auditor outlining how much you are over -- and sometimes under -- in regard to your software license compliance. These ELP's are usually Microsoft Workbooks made in Excel with more rows of data than the average corn field in Kansas. And the worst part is, they are usually inaccurate.

With that said, it is essential to counter with your own ELP and denote any problematic findings beforehand so that it doesn't eat into your budget down the road. The ELP Process is essentially the beginnings of the negotiation phase of the Software Audit Process. So, countering any assumptions reported by the auditors is critical.
