The Frontline Club will host an urgent panel discussion on the rapidly escalating war in the Middle East, where a sharp surge in hostilities this week has transformed a longstanding regional confrontation into widespread conflict.
In coordinated air and missile strikes on Iran’s major cities — including Tehran, Isfahan and Qom — U.S. and Israeli forces killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and dozens of senior commanders, triggering fierce retaliation. Tehran has launched ballistic missiles and drones at Israeli territory and U.S. and allied bases across the Gulf, with strikes reported over Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE. Hezbollah has entered the fighting from Lebanon, prompting renewed Israeli bombardments there and a return to open conflict on the northern front.
Global airspace closures have disrupted flights, oil markets are volatile, and diplomatic pressure mounts as regional capitals grapple with the widening war.
