Briefing new life into Europe’s largest LNG import terminal will not be easy. Interviewed at Riviera Maritime Media’s LNG Shipping & Terminals Conference, Europe 2022 in London in November, James Hooker, Technical Development Manager for National Grid’s Grain LNG, discussed some of the challenges that have arisen during the planning of the midlife expansion of the 40-year-old terminal.
Grain LNG is capable of supplying 25% of UK gas demand - and is set to play a continuing vital role in the transition to a cleaner energy future.
Mr Hooker discusses some of the factors in planning the expansion of the terminal to not only meet the commercial needs of the future, but also remain aligned with National Grid’s net-zero ambitions.
