Waders like Lapwing, Curlew and Oystercatcher are facing big declines in their breeding population across the UK. In Orkney they are faring better than many places but are still under threat. RSPB Scotland is working with landowners to improve habitat for the birds and boost their breeding success. Conservation Advisor Thomas Wells explains how targeted grazing and the creation of new wetland features are helping nature in Rousay.
This work was led by RSPB Scotland and funded by the North Isles Landscape Project which brings together Orkney Islands Council, NatureScot and Highlands and Islands Enterprise as well as local community groups.
