Diamond cleaning old concrete floors has no general rule. Resin manufacturers specify little beyond what their product needs to perform. It’s not laziness on their part. It’s to save a bunch of words that still will not give clear direction for every preparation application. For the contractor that has to learn by trial and error this means bringing tools that address topical material removal and profile creation. Coatings need a clean and absorbent matrix to achieve maximum adhesion. Whatever’s on top, therefore, has to go.
The video documents a slab cleaning by diamond grinder. Before the machine can grind, it’s setup to scrape using PCD tools. These shear and cut built up paint spills and overspray. Once this bulk is removed, it’s a basic CSP#2 creation by way of two segment 25/30 grit diamonds.
