Ed was born in Portland Oregon and grew up on a 16-acre farm and moved to Southern California at the age of 15. While singing and playing 50's & 60's music in the Die Hards he also played sax in his high school jazz band, concert band and marching band. He also joined an original ska and rockabilly band with some high school friends, The Mana Rays.
