In the start of the journey we pass through the valleys of Naran, Jalkhad, Bubusar, Indus river, Astore and all the way up to Deosai. while travelling on this route Weather changes dramatically throughout the way. Generally its pleasant in Naran, Chilling cold at Babusar top and scorching heat in Chillas then again pleasant in Astore. Best months to travel on this route are from June to September. During this trip we have covered the top tourist attractions of Gilgit Baltistan alongwith babu sir top naran.
A few kilometres before Jaglot, a right turn from KKH will lead to Astore city. 35 km from turning point and two hrs travel from Jaglot to Astore. The first destination on our trip was to reach Deosai National Park so we have decided to catch up Deosai all the way from Astore.
Indus river and Karakorum highway are no less than a treat to watch but it's also a deadly combination beware of the lanslides and sharp turns, keep your minds fresh your eyes opened and stay focused while driving on this road, because a slight neglegence or mistake on this route may lead to deadly accidents in case of losing focus.
The Deosai National Park is located in Skardu on the Deosai Plains, that are among the highest plateaus in the world with an average height of 4,114 metres above the sea level, covering an area of about 3,000 square kilometers. Deosai is accessible from Skardu in the north and the Astore Valley in the west. Deosai is well known for its spring season when it is covered by a carpet of millions of flowers and a wide variety of butterflies.
Shangrila resort: Spending a quality time in Deosai we have decided to move to lower kachura Shangrila resort, It was established in 1983 with the opening of the first Resort Hotel in Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Shangrila Resort Hotel was founded by the late Muhammad Aslam Khan Afridi, the first commander of the Northern Scouts of the Pakistan Army. Shangrila was named after a book titled Lost Horizon by James Hilton.
While coming back from Deosai we took a break at Satpara Lake (Urdu: سدپارہ جھیل) is a natural lake near Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, which supplies water to Skardu Valley. It is fed by the Satpara Stream. Satpara Lake is situated at an elevation of 2,636 meters (8,650 ft) above sea level and is spread over an area of 2.5 km.
Leaving satpara behind we headed towards Hunza valley. Hunza is a district in the northern part of Gilgit-Baltistan, famous for its extraordinary natural beauty. The highest peak of the Karakoram mountains - Rakaposhi 7,788 m/ 25,551 ft is visible from Hunza Valley, The scenic Karakoram Highway is the main road crossing Hunza (continuing into China).
