MATERIALS: Glass jar with lid (16oz), cotton string (from dollar general store - mop), bendable aluminum wiring, shaker metal ball (cut in half), 1/4-IN ID copper threader/shell, oil (virgin olive), and fire starter source (matches or a torch light).
Instead of using Olive oil (even though it burns very clean), you may substitute using other oils such as Vegetable oil and Paraffin oil for example. Recommended to also try filling the bottom of the jar with about an inch of water so that the water will put the fire out if all the oil is ever burned through. Why: with no water, the flame can heat the glass enough to crack it and/or split it.
Just wanted to thank Herrick Kimball for inspiring me on making this video as he came out with the "Bright Betty Bam-A-Lamp".
Warning: Please do not use your fingers and recommend using needle-nose pliers to adjust the wick when lit.
