A fiery exchange erupted between Rep. Lee Zeldin and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse during a Zeldin’s testimony concerning the 2026 fiscal year budget. Whitehouse alleged that claims of who reviewed the cancellation of certain grants did not add up with each other, “there are three completely different statements, and they cannot all be true.” Whitehouse also pressed Zeldin to provide his personal schedule to back up his claims, which Zeldin responded was available to the public.
