Iran Protests Death Toll Exceeds 5,000, Thousands Arrested Amid Kurdish Clashes

The heaviest clashes and highest death tolls have reportedly occurred in Kurdish-majority areas in northwest Iran, where separatist activity is ongoing. Iranian Kurdish rights group Hengaw, based in Norway, also highlighted the intense violence in these regions.

U.S.-based HRANA reported 3,308 confirmed deaths, with another 4,382 cases under review, and over 24,000 arrests confirmed during the nationwide unrest that erupted in late December. The situation remains tense as authorities continue crackdowns on protesters.
