This World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, we celebrate the richness of the world’s cultures and reflect on the vital role that intercultural dialogue plays in shaping peaceful, inclusive and sustainable societies.
As part of our #StoriesOfStewardship series, we spotlight Anup Ranjan Pandey, a traditional Chhattisgarhi folk theatre artist and Padma Shri awardee. His life’s work is anchored in reviving the folk art of Bastar through performance, storytelling, and a profound ecological philosophy that honors the symbiotic relationship between nature and indigenous communities.
His journey demonstrates how culture drives environmental stewardship, while also creating inclusive growth by supporting local enterprises rooted in heritage (SDG 8), amplifying marginalised voices (SDG 10) and fostering collaborative governance (SDG 16).
