Still prepared the way Mary Guida made it 60 years ago, the royal is a combination of an Italian sausage patty and sliced cappicola. As with all John & Mary’s subs, it also comes with lettuce, tomato and cheese, along with a choice of mayonnaise, oil, or Miracle Whip.

The first John & Mary’s opened its door for the first time with three sandwiches: the Regular (Capicola Sub) for .50 cents, the Royal (Capicola & Sausage) for .75 cents and the Sausage Sub for .60 cents. Later in 1954 the A-Bomb was added. Today, John & Mary’s great food and service has evolved into what is considered the best pizza, sub and wing restaurant in the area.
