This fun model is a hats-off to the famous duo of the Write brothers, whose invention revolutionized the world as we know it. Two gifted bike shop owners built the first heavier-than-air flying machine with a motor! One crucial point was designing wings that could supply sufficient lift, but be strong and light at the same time. They chose a design of a biplane, like in early gliders. Biplanes feature two wings, one below the other, with supporting struts connecting them, the overall result being a lighter structure of the wing. Biplanes dominated the WWI skies, and the Red Baron himself spend a bigger part of his glorious pilot career in biplanes. Changes in aviation technology and development of new materials meant that biplanes were no longer necessary in the late 1930s. Despite this, biplanes are still adored by many and take part in modern-day airshows.
