Activities You Should Avoid While Waiting for your Disability Hearing

Описание: In Georgia Social Security disability hearing offices, you may very well find yourself waiting 18 months, two years or even longer for your hearing date. During this long wait, what are you allowed to do and what types of activities may cause trouble for you when you finally do appear before a judge.

As I discuss in this video, #disabilityjudges do not expect you to sit at home staring at the wall, month after month. Minor housework, walking outside to get the mail, walking the dog or even short drives to the store will not cause problems for you.

But other activities that look like work can raise a red flag. Hearing judges are on high alert for cases where it appears that the claimant is not working because of other obligations like raising children or caring for an elderly parent, and wants to get paid for also being disabled.

If you find yourself spending your days engaged in some sort of regular activity, call your lawyer for advice about what message that activity may send to the judge. Anything that sounds like #substantialgainfulactivity could be a problem.

You can be sure that the judge in your case will ask you how you spend your days and you should be prepared to explain what you are doing and any difficulties you may have performing your daily activities. #activitiesofdailyliving
