Have you ever just needed a break from the hustle and bustle of the city life, pack the tent and head off to Altydwater near Rawsonville and enjoy some quiet time in nature only 98km's from Cape Town. Another bonus is you can take your best friend with, yes they are a pet friendly campsite. The campsite has electricity and running water although it could be quite a distance to the nearest outlet. We suggest taking at least a 20m extension lead (30m would be an advantage) and a container for water. The plots are not marked and they work on a first come first served basis. The site has cellphone reception if you don't want to totally get away from the world. The ablutions are clean and more than adequate all equipped with hot water and flush toilet facilities.If you going with a few friends, there is a central lapa or entertainment area with shade cover, communal fridges, a table with benches and a washing up basin but be sure to get there early if you want to camp close to it, that's normally the first spots that go. The owners employ a security guard watching over the campsite and your valuables at night so you can sleep peacefully. Overall we would suggest you give Altydwater campsite a visit for a quick weekend getaway, its a relaxing campsite and is the perfect site for nature lovers that just need a weekend break. Also feel free to bring your bicycles and take a ride through the vineyards.

Directions from Cape Town:
From Cape Town to Worcester on the N1 take the first turn off to Rawsonville, travel 2 km to Du Toitskloof Wine Cellar. Take the gravel road to the right. At the 4 way crossing continue straight, the road will make a 90 degree bend to the left, continue with the road and it will make a 90 degree bend to the right and immediately left again, when the fence on the right stops turn right (you'll have vineyards on your left now) continue past the farm house and the tennis courts, the road will turn 90 degrees right and quite quickly left again continue with the road this is the last stretch before arriving at the campsite.
