Burundi's President, Pierre Nkurunziza has deployed the army in the capital Bujumbura to stop protests.
Many are angry he has decided to seek a third term - which they say breaches a peace deal which ended the civil war in 2005.
Despite intimidation, protesters have vowed to stay on the streets until their demands are met.
Al Jazeera's Malcolm Webb reports from Bujumbura, Burundi.
