A special court in Chennai sentenced the accused in Anna University sexual abuse case, Gnanasekaran to 30 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 90,000 after finding him guilty on all eleven charges. The court held that the charges were substantiated through documentary and forensic evidence. Gnanasekaran also allegedly recorded a video of the incident and used it to blackmail victims.

“All the 11 sections punishment has been given. Except section 64(1), other sections have only small time punishment between one month and three years. Considering the veracity of the case and the seriousness of the offence, the court has considered this as rarest of rarest cases and given such punishment.
