One of the most notable trends in recent years is the increasing role that for-profit companies are playing in conducting disinformation campaigns. While companies have been contracted by governments to engage in propaganda for decades, we’re now seeing PR firms and political comms firms developing expertise in “disinformation as a service” for politicians and corporations, as well as governments.
