Описание: The terrain is generally mountainous with an altitude that does not exceed 729 meters. There are no forests and large plains. For this characteristic, Tinos was characterized by Cornelius Castoriadis as a "hand-made island". Plains are found in the plain of Kolymbithra, in the northern part of the island, where fruits and vegetables and citrus fruits are cultivated .
The highest mountains are in order Tsiknias (729 m.) in the southeastern part of the island, Patela or Polemou Kampos (616 m.) in the western part of the island and Kechrovouni (604 m.) with the Monastery of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Mount (375 m.).
A special feature of the island are its many dovecotes with admirable architecture and its hundreds chapels. In total, churches and chapels together reach 750.
The flora consists of small shrubby plants such as cedars, myrtles, hollies, spurges and shrubby meadows suitable for infusions and cooking such as sage, mountain tea, wild mint, oregano, capers, thyme, etc. In Tinos there are wild mushrooms in many varieties, some of which are edible. The most famous are the arnadike or arnadkites. There are also agathis, kokkinomanites and glistrites. The arna(d)kites belong to the same family as the pleurotus that are widely distributed and their scientific name is Pleurotus eryngii var. ferulae.

In terms of fauna , there are wild pigeons, hares, wild rabbits, lizards, snakes and other reptiles, wild goats, partridges and various migratory birds ( doves , quails , wild ducks, etc.) passing through from September to February.
