this vine altered the size, shape, and color of its leaves to resemble those of the plastic objects. This discovery is highly significant as it proves that the plant does not necessarily require
horizontal gene transfer or chemical signals from a living host to perform its mimicry
which opens up a new hypothesis that plants may be capable of 'observing' images through epidermal cells acting as lenses.
