Forward Kahuta is a town and the district headquarters of the Haveli District in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. The district was formed in 2009 by separating it from the Bagh District. The name "Forward Kahuta" is witnessed from the 1990s, prior to which the town was known simply as "Kahuta"

Forward Kahuta is on the right bank of Betar Nala, about 10 miles north of the Poonch Town (in Indian-administered Kashmir), where the Betar Nala drains into the Poonch River (in Indian-administered Kashmir). It lies on a rich plateau 200 ft. above the river level, en route to the Haji Pir pass, and to the Uri town beyond

Forward Kahutta (District) is situated in Azad Kashmir. Until recently it was part of Bagh District; it now serves as the administrative headquarters of Haveli District.
Forward Kahuta is situated at a distance of 157 KM from Muzaffarabad, the Capacity City of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and 217 KM from Islamabad, Capital of Pakistan. It is part of Poonch Division and very close of Line of Control and Poonch of Indian Administrated Kashmir.

The Haveli District is situated at a high altitude of approximately 8,000 feet above sea level. Heavy snowfall occurs regularly throughout the year. Darra Haji Peer, Lasdana, Sindhgala, Neel Kunth, Aliabad, Sheraziabad, Kalamula, Jabbi Syedan, and Mohri Syed Ali are all well known tourist locations.
