This video series provide a brief overview of the back physical exam; this video highlights the Cross Straight Leg Raise Test. It is similar to the straight leg test, but is done on the opposite side of the back/leg pain. If it's positive, it's one of our most specific tests for sciatica. It is not a test for inflammatory back pain/disease such as ankylosing spondylitis.
