The People Power Party's independent ethics committee has postponed making a decision on disciplinary action against the party's chairman Lee Jun-seok... over sexual bribery allegations and an attempt to cover up the case.
Following a marathon discussion on Wednesday, members agreed to reconvene on July 7th... to hear the chairman's explanation and come to a final conclusion.
However, the committee DID decide to punish Lee's close ally Kim Cheol-geun,... for allegedly destroying evidence related to the scandal.
Chairman Lee who denies the allegations expressed regret over the delayed decision... saying it will only fuel chaos within the party for an extended period.
Any disciplinary action even the lightest warning is expected to be blow to Lee's political career... and perhaps to the party as a whole.
