Hieratic is a cursive form of hieroglyphs that was used in ancient Egypt. It is much faster to write.

It was in use From around the 3rd millennium BCE until the end of the Ptolemaic Period in the 4th century CE.




This means that, by the time the pyramids were built in 2650 BC,
Hieratic and Hieroglyphs were fully mature.

That’s 5300 years ago!



They would not change for about 2800 years when Egypt fell to the foreign invaders and its people migrated south and south-west.

Egyptians always considered that their true homeland was south, deeper in Africa.


So every time they needed help and wanted to rekindle their culture they looked south.
