After watching this video you should be able to:
1) Understand how intracellular and extracellular recording techniques can be used to record action potentials.
2) Understand how patch clamping can be used to measure current through individual ion channels.
These short videos are used in BIOL 136: Vertebrate Neurophysiology, an upper-division undergraduate elective at San Jose State University taught by Katie Wilkinson. The course is 'flipped', which means students watch these videos at home and we spend class time on problem sets, discussions and laboratory activities. You are welcome to use them to study Neurophysiology or use as a supplement in your own class.
