How To KEEP Your Doctor When You Start Medicare! 👨‍⚕️

One of the big fears people face when joining Medicare is that they may lose access to their current doctor which is understandable, but in this video, you'll discover exactly how to keep your doctors and make sure you see the doctors you like when you begin medicare.

Marvin will walk you through the two Medicare options you can choose from (Medicare A & B with a Supplemental Plan OR an Advantage plan)

If you stay with Medicare A & B and a Supplemental Plan, there is no network. So you just need to make sure your doctor takes medicare! If they take Original Medicare then they will also take your Medigap plan.

If they are a participating doctor, they're part of the fee-for-service program which is about 90% of the doctors who take Original Medicare.

But 7-10% of doctors don't just take fee-for-service, they require up to 15% excess, so it's important you also ask if they accept Fee for Service.

If your doctor does include a 15% excess bill, a Medicare plan F or Medicare plan G supplemental plan will cover the excess bill.

You can only have an F plan if you were born before January 1, 1955. So for most of us, you'll need to get a Medicare G supplemental plan and to be honest, it's also my favorite supplemental plan anyways!

From our findings, about 99% of doctors take medicare today, but some doctors do not take new medicare patients, but if you establish a relationship with a doctor prior to turning 65, most likely if your doctor does accept Medicare, he/she will keep you as a patient once you're on medicare.

With Medicare Advantage Plans, you're now stuck in a network, so you have to find out if your doctor takes an HMO plan or PPO plan. HMOs look cheaper for you, but if you're on an HMO, you can NOT go out of the network unless it's an urgent or emergency situation.

A PPO plan is more expensive for you, but more doctors do accept this more often. Some doctors won't take either PPO or HMO networks, and some will take the PPO plan but not the HMO plan.
