One of the most common issues identified during our CBCT quality control (QC) process is patient movement, most frequently affecting the anterior maxilla or mandible.
In this example, we highlight the key warning signs, including:
• Visible ridges or linear artifacts within the scan
• Loss of cortical definition and overall image “furriness”
• Overlapping anatomy and double imaging
When these indicators exceed an acceptable threshold, the CBCT scan can no longer be relied upon for accurate guided planning. In such cases, our recommendation is clear: retake the CBCT to ensure precision, safety, and predictable clinical outcomes.
