Описание: In any crisis, time is precious. Individuals experiencing moments of crisis need time to think things over and seek help. But bullets move faster than people heal. When an individual is saying or doing things that suggest they intend to harm themselves or others, having access to a firearm can rob them in an instant of the time they need to heal.

Extreme risk laws currently exist in 21 states and Washington D.C. In Illinois, these civil (not criminal) orders – known as Firearm Restraining Orders (FROs) – temporarily prevent someone in crisis from purchasing or possessing firearms. By doing so, they can pause a potentially deadly situation and give someone the time they need to heal.
