The Ligier JS39 was unveiled on Thursday 28 January at the Yacht Club de Monaco because the team’s Gitanes Blondes cigarette sponsorship clashes with the new anti-tobacco laws in France.
The new car is a conventional design and features a Williams semi-automatic gearbox and traction-control.
Ligier technical director Gerard Ducarouge said: ‘The fourth chassis, which will come out in March, will be fitted with an electronically-controlled hydraulic suspension system.”
