In this episode, Firat Oruc, Assistant Professor at GUQ, speaks with Anto Mohsin, Professor of Science and Technology Studies at Northwestern University in Qatar, about electrical energy in everyday urban life in Doha and its intersections with the history, cultural memory, development, and future of the city.
Anto Mohsin is Assistant Professor in Residence in the Liberal Arts Program at Northwestern University in Qatar (NUQ). He is also an affiliated faculty member of Northwestern University’s Science in Human Culture Program in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. Prior to joining Northwestern Qatar, he held a Henry Luce Postdoctoral Fellowship in Asian Environmental Studies at Hobart and William Smith Colleges where he taught courses on environment and development in Southeast Asia. He received his PhD in science and technology studies (STS) from Cornell University where he was also trained in the Southeast Asia Program. He has been teaching undergraduate STS courses at NUQ since Fall 2015.
