Welcome back to "🔥 HOTSPOTS (Best Locations in SoCal)"! In this episode, I’m revealing my top 15 locations in San Diego County for Uber drivers to cherry-pick the best rides and maximize earnings. With over 6 years of driving experience, I’ve perfected my routes to ensure you get the most out of every trip. Whether you're new to the area or a seasoned driver, these hotspots will help you navigate San Diego like a pro.

Overview of My Route in San Diego
When driving in San Diego, I prefer to navigate north and south rather than east and west. I often start my journey from San Bernardino County or Orange County, making my way to Temecula or John Wayne Airport before heading into San Diego. In my experience, passengers in San Diego tip better, especially those coming from the airport.

Quick tip: Terminal 2 at San Diego Airport is easier for pickups, while Terminal 1 is under construction and can be tricky to navigate.

Top 15 Locations in San Diego County
1. San Diego International Airport (SAN): My favorite and main hotspot. The airport consistently has high passenger demand, especially from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. ( by 11am its a hotspot) and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Be aware that you can get throttled in the evening because many drivers show up. Sometimes I will wait in DTSD for a short $5 to $10 ride to the airport just to get a re-matched.

2. Omni La Costa Resort: Ideal for picking up vacationers and business travelers, this location is great for rides to the airport or downtown San Diego.

3. Legoland: Located in Carlsbad, this is a frequent drop-off spot from the airport, often leading to long trips to Disneyland. It's surrounded by hotels, making it a lucrative location.

4. Carlsbad: Known for its long rides to Orange County or San Diego Airport. With fewer drivers around, it’s a spot that can really pay off.

5. Gaslamp Quarter: Famous for its vibrant nightlife, this area is especially busy on weekends. Be cautious after Padres games as it can get chaotic.

6. La Jolla Shores: A beautiful tourist destination with upscale dining. It’s bustling with activity throughout the day but avoid it on weekends when it gets overcrowded.

7. Balboa Park: Home to museums, gardens, and the San Diego Zoo, this spot is prime for picking up passengers, especially on weekends.

8. Downtown San Diego & Convention Center: Always buzzing with professionals, tourists, and convention-goers. Expect consistent ride requests and surges here.

9. Vista and San Marcos: Great for early morning rides to the airport, often with just two trips.

10. Rancho Bernardo Inn: This luxury resort attracts guests who prefer high-quality service, making it ideal for cherry-picking rides.

11. Mission Valley Shopping Center: High foot traffic, especially on weekends, with easy access to downtown San Diego or the airport.

12. Pacific Beach: Known for its laid-back vibe, it’s a popular spot. However, I avoid it now due to the younger crowd and the risk of intoxicated passengers.

13. UC San Diego (La Jolla): A large campus with students and faculty needing rides throughout the day, particularly during the school year.

14. Torrey Pines State Reserve: A scenic area popular among hikers and nature lovers. Ideal for longer, more profitable rides, especially on weekends.

15. Del Mar Fairgrounds: During events like the San Diego County Fair and horse races, this location becomes a hotspot for ride requests.

Bonus Location:

SeaWorld San Diego: A major tourist attraction that consistently draws large crowds, making it a reliable spot for picking up passengers.

Locations to Avoid:
San Ysidro Border (CBX Airport): Long waits, not worth the effort.
El Cajon: Primarily medical rides, low-paying.
Coronado Island: Beautiful but challenging, especially on weekends.
Escondido: High homeless population and lots of medical rides to Riverside County.
Camp Pendleton: Difficult access and challenging to get a ride back.

These are my top locations and tips for driving in San Diego County. I hope this helps you maximize your earnings and navigate the area more effectively. Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more Uber driving tips and tricks. See you on the road!
