Join me as I take on one of Scotland’s most iconic trails — alone.
This New Year, I’m pushing beyond my comfort zone and stepping into the unknown, attempting something I’ve never done before: a full-length, long-distance hike in the UK… in the depths of winter. I’ve walked the West Highland Way before, but never like this. This time, it’s colder, darker, and far less forgiving. Short daylight hours, unpredictable weather, and winter conditions will turn a familiar trail into an entirely new challenge.
I’ll be hiking the full 96 miles northbound from Milngavie to Fort William, carrying everything I need and wild camping along the way. Every mile will be earned.
This journey also marks the first real test of my Tarptent ArcDome 1 — a four-season, double-wall, 1+ person shelter that I’ll be relying on night after night as winter tightens its grip. Wind, rain, cold… this tent, and my resolve, are about to be put to the test.
Let’s see what winter on the West Highland Way has in store.
