Election official: Counting is secure, transparent

As anxious Americans await a winner in the presidential election, election officials in many states are coming forward to defend the security and integrity of the vote counting process.
Scott McDonell, county clerk for Wisconsin's Dane County, says the tabulation of votes in Wisconsin and other states is meticulous and transparent.
He says the process in his state is so accurate that recounts are rarely requested. "We've had several recounts in the last few years and theybasically have stopped because after a couple of them, everyone realizes thisreally accurate."
Voters are required to show a photo I.D. and prove they live in Wisconsin.
And the number of ballots counted at a given location must exactly equal the number of voters. "We want to make sure that if there's 1200 people that came in to a polling place, there's 1200 ballots," McDonnell says.
