We slept a night at Otto/MacDonalds Campsite.
The campsite is 15 km north of Franz Josef North end of Lake Mapourika.
Lake Mapourika is a picturesque lake
and it is stunning reflections of the surrounding rainforest, Southern Alps.
Roberts Point Track is a challenging hike with rough terrain, including tree roots, rocks, and slippery sections. Good fitness and sturdy hiking boots are recommended.
There are also unbridged creek crossings that can be dangerous in wet conditions. be cautious of steep drops and slippery rocks.
Location: Fox Glacier Highway, West Coast 7886, New Zealand.
Distance: 12.3 km return
Time Suggested: 5:20 ~6 hours return
Grade: high and needs challenge
