Forget rice or pasta—today we are serving this easy Skillet Smoked Sausage, Peppers, and Onions recipe the BEST way possible: piled high on top of creamy mashed potatoes!
This is the ultimate comfort meal. The juices from the fried peppers, onions, and savory sausage soak into the potatoes to create a flavor explosion that beats traditional Bangers and Mash every time. Plus, it's cheap, filling, and ready in 20 minutes.
Smoked Sausage & Peppers Stew
Ingredients
1–1.5 lbs smoked sausage (sliced)
1 bell green peppers, sliced
1 large onion, sliced
1 tbsp jarred garlic , minced (optional)
1 cup chicken broth
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp Cajun seasoning (if you would like, I didn't use it)
1 tablespoon Dale's Seasoning and Marinade
½ tsp black pepper
Salt to taste
Crushed red peppers (optional for heat)
Instructions:
1. Brown the Sausage (optional but worth it!)
Sear sausage slices in a skillet with a little oil and butter for 3–4 minutes for extra flavor.
2. Add:
Add sliced peppers, onions, garlic, and sausage.
3. Add Seasonings
4. Add Liquids
Pour in broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dale's Seasoning and Marinade if using.
5. Cook for 10 minutes
6. Stir and Taste
Adjust salt and seasonings before eating...
Serving Ideas
