Greece has deployed military assets to Cyprus following a drone strike that heightened tensions in the eastern Mediterranean. Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias met with Cypriot Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas and President Nikos Christodoulides in Nicosia during high-level consultations.
Dendias stated that Cyprus is not participating in military operations against Iran and stressed that countries not involved in hostilities must not be targeted. He confirmed that two Greek F-16 fighter jets are already stationed in Cyprus, while two Greek Navy frigates are sailing toward the island.
Cyprus Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas welcomed support from European partners and allied nations amid the escalating regional situation.
The move signals closer military coordination between Athens and Nicosia as instability spreads across the wider Middle East.
